Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Plitvička jezera), is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register. It represents forest covered mountain area that counts 16 beautiful lakes. Lakes are connected by small water stream and waterfalls which were made over 10.000 year period. Specific geographical position and climate conditions have all helped creating an unique natural phenomenon and very diverse biological area.
